The Cilento Coast

The Cilento Coast is  an unspoiled, rugged stretch of coastline in southern Campania, stretching from the Gulf of Salerno to the Gulf of Policastro. Often described as an authentic, less-crowded alternative to the Amalfi Coast, it pairs dramatic sea cliffs and crystalline waters with lush green national parks and historic fishing villages. Castellabate is a stunning medieval hilltop village on the Cilento coast in Campania, Italy. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it sits 280 meters above the sea and is famous for its breathtaking coastal views, labyrinthine alleys, and the famous motto: “Here, you do not die.”

The Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast (Costiera Amalfitana) is  a dramatic, 50-kilometer stretch of coastline in southern Italy. Famous for its pastel-colored villages, sheer cliffs plunging into the Tyrrhenian Sea, and terraced citrus groves, it is a designated UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its spectacular natural and cultural beauty. The Path of the Gods (Sentiero degli Dei) is  a spectacular 6 to 7-kilometer cliffside trail on the Amalfi Coast. It connects the elevated village of Bomerano (in Agerola) to Nocelle, offering breathtaking, panoramic views over terraced vineyards, deep blue sea, and the distant island of Capri.

Ischia and Capri

Capri and Ischia are  two stunning yet distinct islands in the Gulf of Naples, offering contrasting Italian experiences. Capri is an exclusive, glamorous retreat famous for its dramatic rocky cliffs, designer shopping, and the iconic Blue Grotto. Ischia, over four times larger, is celebrated for its lush volcanic landscapes, healing thermal spas, and relaxed atmosphere.

Puglia

Puglia, often called the “heel of the boot” of Italy, is  a stunning, sun-drenched region defined by its 800 kilometers of pristine coastline, ancient olive groves, and distinctive architecture. It is a land of rich culinary traditions and deep historical roots.Coastline:  With over 870 km of coastline, it boasts everything from dramatic cliffs and sea caves in  Polignano a Mare  to the sweeping sandy beaches of  Salento

Cilento Coast – Acciaroli is a picturesque fishing village in the Cilento National Park,  famous for its pristine, award-winning beaches, connection to Ernest Hemingway, and the legendary longevity of its residents. It offers a much more relaxed, authentic alternative to the busy Amalfi Coast.

Paestum – The ruins of Paestum are famous for their three  ancient Greek templesin the  Doric order  dating from about 550 to 450 BCE that are in an excellent state of preservation. The city walls and amphitheatre are largely intact, and the bottom of the walls of many other structures remain, as well as paved roads. The site is open to the public, and there is a modern  national museum  within it, which also contains the finds from the associated Greek site of  Foce del Sele.

Vietri sul Mare – Known as the “first pearl of the Amalfi Coast,” Vietri sul Mare is  a vibrant coastal village famous for its rich history of polychrome ceramics. Located just west of Salerno, it offers a slightly more relaxed, authentic local vibe than its highly touristy neighbors. Capital of Ceramics:  Vietri is renowned worldwide for its majolica tiles and hand-painted pottery—a tradition dating back to the 15th century. Every workshop is a riot of colors, featuring the town’s signature bright yellow, deep emerald greens, and intricate donkey motifs.

Gulf of Policastro The Gulf of Policastro is a stunning Tyrrhenian Sea inlet that uniquely touches three regions: Campania, Basilicata, and Calabria. Stretching from the striking Punta degli Infreschi bay in the Cilento National Park down to Capo Scalea, it is renowned for its crystalline waters, dramatic cliffs, and historical coastal villages. Boat Excursions: Boat and catamaran charters are incredibly popular to see hidden grottoes, such as the sea caves near Punta degli Infreschi.
Hiking: Trails crisscross the coastal hills, offering sweeping panoramic views of the gulf. You can check trail maps on platforms like AllTrails.

Testimonials

  • Very nice structure, well-kept and super clean, with a beautiful view. We loved everything, from the welcome, to the stay, to the excellent cakes for breakfast! highly recommended!

    Angela

  • Great breakfast and the views from the room were fantastic !!

    Alessandro C

  • Exceptional !! The property is located in a quiet, hilly area, offering spectacular views from the breakfast room or from the terrace, where you can sit and enjoy the cool evening breeze. Being a bit higher up allows for a milder climate at night, therefore allowing for better sleep, even though the rooms are still air-conditioned. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with little personal touches from the host. The hostess is welcoming and friendly, as well as being an excellent pastry chef: The lemon and cream cake for breakfast this morning was worth the stay alone. We will definitely return if we need an overnight stay in the area.
